In our Video Game Design camp, campers learn what it takes to design a video game. Using the latest game design technology from YoYo Games, we develop characters, write rules for our characters to move, and introduce challenges into our game. When we complete each of the video games we make in camp, kids compete for high scores on each other’s games.

Who Can Attend
Made specifically for kids ages 9-13, Video Game Design camp is a great introduction into computer programming and logic-based thinking. No previous video game design experience is needed.
What Kids Will Learn
Kids will learn video game design using YoYo Games’ GameMaker software technology.
Our knowledgeable instructors combine strong curriculum, and fun and empowering teaching methods, to lead students through the full process of creating a game from beginning to end, including developing characters, rooms, building walls, adding backgrounds, music, sound effects and other great techniques. However, students have control over the gameplay, visual elements, settings, music and sound effects for their games.
During our Video Game Design camp, students play each other’s game, offering compliments, suggestions, and encouragement along the way. At the end of camp, each child is provided access to a lite version of the GameMaker software, and a library of graphics and music files to continue to develop their games and create new ones as well.
This class is a great introduction into video game design. Students will receive a USB flash drive with their video games they create in camp. Campers can take their games home each night during camp to show what they’re accomplishing each day, and keep after camp.
Each year, Classroom Antics revamps our entire tech camp curriculum with fresh new video games, LEGO robots, stop-motion movies, and computer programs to create at summer camp. And this year is no different.
For summer 2014, our entire curriculum has been revitalized and themed around a kid-friendly central topic, Superhero Adventure!
Video games, LEGO robots, stop-motion movies, and computer programs will be focused around Superheroes and the job they do to help people.
