Who Can Attend

Made specifically for kids ages 9-13, Video Game Design camp is a great introduction into computer programming and logic-based thinking. No previous video game design experience is needed.

What Will Kids Learn

Kids will learn video game design using GameMaker software technology.

Our knowledgeable instructors combine strong curriculum, and fun and empowering teaching methods, to lead students through the full process of creating a game from beginning to end, including developing characters, rooms, building walls, adding backgrounds, music, sound effects and other great techniques. However, students have control over the gameplay, visual elements, settings, music and sound effects for their games.

During our Video Game Design camp, students play each other’s game, offering compliments, suggestions, and encouragement along the way. At the end of camp, each child is provided access to a version of the GameMaker software, and a library of graphics and music files to continue to develop their games and create new ones as well.

This class is a great introduction into basic video game design. Students will receive a USB flash drive with their video games they create in camp. Campers can take them home each night during camp to show the work they’re accomplishing each day, and keep it after camp is over.

At Classroom Antics we encourage our students to not just play games, but make them!

Mission to Mars Camp Adventure

Starting this summer 2013, our technology camps are themed adventures. This means our entire curriculum has been revitalized around a kid-friendly central topic. For summer 2013, our adventure is Mission to Mars!

Since we just landed on Mars, summer 2013 is appropriate that we focus on Space Exploration, and what better way than with a Mission to Mars! Video games will have planets, space ships, and aliens. LEGO robots will include land rovers that retrieve rocks from the Mars surface. Stop-motion movies will highlight past accomplishments like landing on the moon.
