This program will introduce students to the concepts of Chemical Engineering and the engineering design process through various, hands-on projects and demonstrations.
Chemical engineers apply chemistry to solve problems in our lives from blowing bigger chewing gum bubbles to creating fuel that blasts spacecrafts further, to making salt water drinkable. In this module, we will learn about different properties of chemicals, like density, acidity, and surface tension. This will teach us the science behind lava lamps, slime, tie-dye, and much more. We will also design soap powered boats and crystallized creations. Lastly, no chemical engineering club would be complete without a vinegar/ baking soda explosion!
This program will introduce students to the concepts of Chemical Engineering and the engineering design process through various, hands-on projects and demonstrations. Each program will be held once a week at participating schools.
