Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is officially now the third Thursday in February. The Society of Women Engineers asks you to help spread awareness of girls in engineering to the young girls in your life. You don’t need to sit down and tell them the dictionary definition of engineering… that’s boring. Instead, engage them! Here’s how:

  • Do an engineering craft/project. There are so many out there! Check the internet, such as sites like this or this for fun engineering craft ideas. Some of the ideas are neat, some are cute, but all are an excellent way to learn about engineering while being creative.
  • Brainstorm all the things in the room that an engineer helped make. This quick brain teaser will help her understand the expansive world of engineering. It will also show how all different kinds of girls in engineering help create many things we use every day. This is a great way to delve into the different types of engineering as well.
  • Share a famous female engineer with her. Whether one of the most powerful women engineers of 2017 or one of the great women in engineering history. These girls in engineering are sure to inspire her and encourage her engineering thought. Ask her if she has any engineering ideas to help make the world a better place.
  • Sign her up for Classroom Antics’ program. As a future girl in engineering, she is sure to have a blast while learning subjects such as LEGO robotics, stop-motion animation, computer programming, coding, and more! Visit our website to learn more, view dates, times, and locations, and register for a summer camp today!
